(pressebox) (Hannover, 27.03.2009) The Supervisory Board of Continental AG, Hanover, unanimously elected the lawyer Rolf Koerfer as its new chairman at an extraordinary meeting on Friday in Hanover. The 51-year-old thus succeeds Dr. Hubertus von Grünberg, who resigned on March 6.

Rolf Koerfer is a lawyer and partner at the international law firm Allen & Overy LLP. He is specialized in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and restructurings in various industrial sectors, including automotive, insurance, and reinsurance companies as well as financial institutes. Rolf Koerfer was previously a partner at the firms Oppenhoff & Rädler and Shearman & Sterling LLP. In addition to his activities as lawyer, Rolf Koerfer is a member of the corporate law committee of the Bundesrechtsanwaltskammer (Germany's federal chamber of lawyers) as well as supervisory board chairman of GLOBALE Rückversicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft. Rolf Koerfer is married and has three children.
