(pressebox) (Hanover/Frankfurt/Main, 06.03.2009) The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Continental AG, Hanover, Dr. Hubertus von Grünberg has this Friday communicated that he will lay down his position with immediate effect. He will also lay down his mandate as an ordinary member of the Supervisory Board with immediate effect and due to personal reasons. Until a new Chairman can be voted on, the Supervisory Board will be led by the Deputy Chairman, Werner Bischoff.

Dr. von Grünberg has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 1999 and Chief Execu-tive Officer of the company between 1991 and June 1999.
