Cash recycling cuts costs. Over the last decade, Wincor Nixdorf has installed more than 20,000 cash recycling systems in banks - the ones that check deposited banknotes for authenticity, making them available for withdrawals almost immediately. Now, the company has initiated a mass rollout of cash recycling systems of the CINEO generation. These new devices do more than just enable recycling within an individual system; thanks to their innovative banknote storage concept, they allow banks to completely redesign their cash processes.

The benefits that Wincor Nixdorf has created for banks in its role as a cash recycling pioneer are obvious. The closed cash cycle offered by recycling systems means that the time- and cost-intensive replenishment and removal of cash is kept to an absolute minimum. The intervals between replenishment or removal can be increased by a factor of three to four, thus substantially reducing cash logistics costs. For example, one German financial institute even set a record of six months during which it did not have to replenish or remove the cash in one of its cash recycling systems. What is more, numerous business cases confirm that the new technology has usually paid for itself after only two to three years.

Cash recycling systems are the fastest way of shortening the cash cycle. In addition, both the CINEO C 4060 cash recycling system and the recycling-capable CINEO C 6030 automated teller safe open up completely new opportunities for banks to manage their cash. For the first time ever, intelligent end-to-end cassettes enable cash to be exchanged between different cash points in the branch and thus kept in the cycle. For example, cash that has been deposited in automated teller safes at the counter can be used to replenish ATMs or cash recycling systems in the self-service zone. Replenishment and removal processes between systems in the self-service zone, the front office and the back office are optimized through closed cash handling. As a result, banks benefit from maximum transparency and security as well as lower costs. Furthermore, it is also possible to exchange cassettes between different branches of the same institute.

In addition to these obvious benefits in the area of cash management, CINEO cash recycling systems offer a number of other advantages such as enhanced security, intuitive operation, faster transaction processing, and the very latest in banknote recognition technology. CINEO also sets new standards in serviceability. The systems automatically provide a whole host of operating information, thus enabling proactive system management and the greatest possible availability. For the first time, the systems contain recycling, sensor, and security components that, without exception, have been produced at the European locations within Wincor Nixdorf's R&D network.

"Banks stand to profit from our many years of experience and our know-how as the market leader for cash recycling systems. By deploying this technology, they can gain economic advantages and also offer their customers the convenience of 24/7 deposits and withdrawals at a single system," says Stephan Okroy, Product Manager Cash Systems at Wincor Nixdorf. And he adds: "The new CINEO systems represent yet another step forward in the march to optimize cash processes."
