voestalpine and IBM sign contract for major transformation and system implementation project

New IT architecture for the Steel Division to enable faster and more flexible processes across the Division / 50 IBM and 170 voestalpine employees involved / Project runs for three years

(PresseBox) (Linz, ) In order to support an integrated and divisional value chain across the voestalpine Steel Division - the largest division of the voestalpine Group by revenue - project "PROZESS" was initiated. Over the next three years a new standardized IT architecture will be implemented to support faster and more flexible divisional processes and thereby significantly contribute to an improved mangeability of the division.

After a one year selection process, the voestalpine Steel Division selected IBM Global Business Services as the strategic partner for project "PROZESS", which is planned to run for three years. During the project, IBM will advise and support voestalpine with the development of integrated processes and the implementation of the supporting business software. In a first phase of the program the implementation is planned for supply chain planning, sales, production planning, procurement, finance and controlling, HR, plant maintenance, sales, and logistics. In a subsequent phase the implementation is planned to be rolled out to the execution systems.

New software for 5,000 employees

After this first phase of the project, the new software will be used by approximately 5,000 employees. Due to the strong transformational character of this project, IBM and voestalpine will put significant effort in managing the necessary change that new processes and software will bring for the Steel Division.
