Completely Individual. Zero PC

ttec Computers decides on Pano Logic zero clients for desktop virtualisation

(PresseBox) (Zaventem, ) ttec Computers has extended its product range in the virtualisation segment: certified as a Pano Logic international partner, ttec, the IT solutions provider, has now introduced desktop virtualisation. A complete Windows desktop is shipped to each user of the transtec zero client concept. The operating system and software are stored on the virtualisation server. ttec particularly recommends this solution for users operating an array of PC clients with less memoryintensive applications, for example in universities and libraries, for elearning or office applications. Desktop virtualisation from ttec offers small to mediumsized businesses an extensive portfolio of virtualisation options including storage virtualisation. The experienced team of ttec experts provide consultation when configuring the virtualisation concept, support with the integration into the existing IT landscape and with servicing and maintenance.

Individualised working environment for users

Users hardly notice the desktop virtualisation process: The Pano box is roughly the size of two cigarette boxes and replaces the PC. The fanless zero client is silent and does not raise any dust. It connects all peripherals such as the monitor and keyboard to the virtual desktop over the existing IP network. Once users log on, they are automatically connected to their own virtual system. The directory services report the corresponding user profile directly to the central virtualisation manager. The IT administrator simply has to enter this data in the appropriate central directory services, in other words, a separate user database is not required.

Higher fail safety, efficient administration and reduced energy consumption

The local Windows desktop is displayed on a Windows 7 or Windows XP version booted by a VMware ESX Server. This offers companies with twice the benefits: firstly, maintenance susceptibility and energyintensive hardware no longer apply. Secondly, the zero client consumes far less power than a desktop PC. IT administrators have to invest far less in desktop management resources as all tasks such as updates, new software installations, administration of authorisation rights, USB port control and the allocation of storage resources are controlled from a central location. Being localised on a highperformance server means that the virtual desktops are far less susceptible to breakdown.

Maximum data security

The transtec desktop virtualisation reduces the risk of infection from malware and viruses as there is no software stored on the zero clients. The IT administrator manages all USB ports using the virtualisation manager. Access and authorisation rights can be configured on user or system level. Certain operations such as downloading data can be restricted, forbidden or recorded. All data is stored on the server rather than locally on the user's systems to enhance data security even more.
