SOLON's U.S. subsidiary equips Arizona schools with solar power systems

Berlin, (PresseBox) - SOLON Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of the Berlinbased solar energy company SOLON SE, will equip several schools in Arizona with photovoltaic systems by the end of 2010. The project capacity is planned to be a total of 8.7 MWp. The first subproject was completed last year with the commissioning of a 1 MWp system in December 2009. SOLON Corporation will plan and install the roofmounted solar power plants as part of two turnkey projects for two school districts in Phoenix, Arizona. It will also be in charge of operating and providing maintenance for the systems. The solar modules used for the project will be manufactured in SOLON's factory in Tucson, Arizona. As established in power purchase agreements (PPA), the school districts will buy back the solar energy they generate from SOLON Corporation at a fixed price.

SOLON Corporation was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. ULcertified solar modules for the North American market are manufactured there. The company distributes its products via regional and national retailers and is also active as a general contractor for largescale solar power plants.


SOLON SE is one of the largest manufacturers of solar modules in Europe as well as a supplier of solar system technology for largescale rooftop and greenfield installations. The SOLON Group has subsidiaries in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and the U.S. and employs some 900 people worldwide. SOLON's core business is producing solar modules and photovoltaic systems along with planning and constructing large rooftop installations and turnkey solar power plants all over the world.
