(PresseBox) (Gärtringen, ) In April 2013 sitronic GmbH & Co. KG celebrates the 10- millionth temperature and humidity sensor. The company then proudly looks back on more than 15 years of successful temperature and humidity measurement in automobiles - und thus renders a valuable contribution with regard to safety and sustainability.

Sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch all belong to the human senses. For sensing things that we can not sense, sitronicsensors take over or supplement this cognitive ability and so add to safety, can save life and increase the efficiency of energy consumption. They act as key elements between environmental conditions and the air conditioners, which react increasingly intelligently to the requirements of the automobile industry.

Free visibility: More safety

In practice, the air-humidity and dew-point sensors from sitronic guarantee at all times free visibility and thus increase the safety for drivers and passengers. Fogging of the windscreen is avoided in a timely manner through compensation by the air conditioner - even in situations subject to large temperature variations. The sensors are mounted inside the vehicle with direct contact to the windscreen. Thereby the preferred location for installation is below the rear-view mirror, where there is sufficient air circulation. Here the temperature of the windscreen is determined together with the dew point of the environment -

a measurement which results from the air humidity and the air temperature. If the temperature of the windscreen falls below the dew-point, which is the point when the windscreen fogs up, the air conditioner initiates appropriate countermeasures, even before the driver notices any change.

Efficient fuel consumption

Nearly all the vehicles sold today are fitted with an automatic air conditioner. According to estimates made by the German Energy Agency in July 2008, the consumption of a middleclass car can be optimized by approximately 1.3 litres of petrol per 100 km, alone by the efficient use of an air conditioner. Here as well, the surface temperature sensors from sitronic make a valuable contribution - switch on only when really necessary. Unnecessary cooling and subsequent reheating of the air is avoided and thus reduces the energy consumption of the air conditioner to a minimum. In addition it is possible to ensure uniform and healthier climate conditions in the inside of the vehicle, this increasing the comfort for the driver and passengers.

With success

In April 2013 the middle-sized family enterprise celebrates its 10 millionth sensor. That means ten million precise temperature- and humidity-sensitive measuring instruments.
