FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, represents the consulting engineering industry globally. Located at the World Trade Center in Geneva, Switzerland and run mostly by volunteers, FIDIC is well known in the consulting engineering industry for its works in defining Conditions of Contract for the construction industry worldwide.

The Conditions of Contract are of utmost importance for international engineering projects as they provide the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the parties concerned in the contract execution. The first edition of FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Works of Civil Engineering Construction, also known as the 'Red Book', was compiled in 1957. The latest version of the contract condition models was published in 1999 and can be applied in any kind of engineering construction contract.

As the understanding of the new FIDIC Contract Conditions is of great significance for the consulting engineering industry worldwide, SGS Ukraine has organized a twoday training course, entitled 'Practical Introduction to FIDIC Contract Conditions'. Based on its extensive experience with FIDIC in various projects, SGS will provide the participants with valuable information on how to execute engineering construction contracts successfully in accordance with the new Conditions of Contract.

This training course is designed to provide practical assistance to those working with the new FIDIC Contract Conditions in the management of claims, achieving resolution to claims and, in particular, the workings of the Dispute Adjudication Board. The attendees will have the opportunity to better understand the responsibilities and rights of the parties under a New FIDIC Contract and the procedures to manage claims in order to achieve the resolution of claims more successfully.

Among the topics to be discussed are the structure of FIDIC, its national organizations and general conditions. Furthermore, the attendees will learn about the types of FIDIC general conditions and their implementation in East European countries. The main focus of the training course offered by SGS Industrial Services will be the basics of the new FIDIC Contract Conditions, including all the main clauses.
