Schaltbau Group fulfils order-intake and sales revenue forecasts for 2008

(PresseBox) (Munich, ) The Schaltbau Group was successful in achieving its order-intake and sales revenue targets despite the worldwide recession already emerging in the fourth quarter. In the last quarter of 2008 the companies of the Schaltbau Group, manufacturers in the segments of mobile and stationary transportation technology, recorded order-intake figures of €55.8 million compared to a total of €62.6 million in the same period of the previous year. The first signs of a slight downturn in industrial business were, however, noticeable as a result of the financial crisis. According to preliminary figures, the Group received orders totalling €279.9 million in 2008 after an intake of €271.9 million the previous year. Pintsch Bubenzer, consolidated for the first time for a full year, contributed an increase of €33.3 million in the industrial braking systems sector (in 2007 from 1 July: €17.5 million). The infrastructure technology sector had some delays in the awarding of orders in the fourth quarter. At €181.7 million the Group order book matched its previous year's level (2007: €181.3 million).

In the final quarter of 2008 the Group recorded sales revenue growth to reach a figure of €67.8 million after totalling €64.2 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. At the end of the year, the preliminary Group sales revenue stood at €279.6 million, representing growth of 20% or €47.7 million compared to the previous year's figure of €232.1 million. Pintsch Bubenzer contributed €34.6 million to this total (2007 from 1 July: €14.6 million). Sales figures were driven by the good order situation in all business areas.

With annual sales of €280 million and around 1,600 employees, the Schaltbau Group is one of the leading suppliers of components and systems in the field of transportation technology. It supplies complete level crossing systems, door systems for buses and trains, industrial braking systems for container cranes and also power supply units and high- and low-voltage components for railway vehicles. Its innovative and future-oriented products make Schaltbau a key business partner in the fields of transportation technology and industry.
