Saint-Gobain Glass: XXL glass is the next big thing - with its own truck

(PresseBox) (Stolberg (Rheinland), ) What do an articulated bus, the world's largest paper plane and the world record in triple jump all have in common? They all measure a good 18 metres or more. This is exactly the kind of trademark that Saint-Gobain Building Glass Europe has in mind with its XXL glass. Experience it live at the glasstec, from 23 – 26 October 2018 in Düsseldorf, Hall 11, Stand 24 A.

Glass in oversize formats is in demand. Current examples include hotel architecture with breathtaking views from panorama restaurants, generously designed flagship stores and sitting rooms flooded with light. XXL glass is sought after by architects and builders. Maximum transparency is the desired effect.

For pane formats starting from 6 m in length, there are now established processes from production and coating to finishing and processing as insulating glass. Saint-Gobain has specially developed a truck that will be on display at the glasstec in Düsseldorf to ensure that the oversized panels produced arrive safely from point A to B. In the outdoor area between exhibition halls 11 and 15, you can get an idea of the real dimensions of the "oversize". In addition, there is concrete information on handling XXL glass panels.

That XXL panes can also be bent is demonstrated by Saint-Gobain Building Glass virtually around the corner at the exhibition stand: the main attraction is an 8 m curved pane, which impressively underscores the expertise of Saint-Gobain GLASSOLUTIONS in handling with glass.

Incidentally, solar control and thermal insulation coatings are also possible with basic glass panels measuring 6 to 18 meters in length. They can then be further processed as usual (CNC-controlled cutting, edge processing, hole drilling, etc.). On request, the objects can also be colored: using digital printing, films and other common procedures. For architects, this means maximum design freedom with glass on the façade.

SGG PLANICLEAR basic glass and the highly transparent SGG DIAMANT as well as the heat and solar control coatings of SGG PLANITHERM, SGG COOL-LITE SKN and SGG COOL-LITE XTREME families are all available in XXL formats in their tempered or heat strengthend versions. They can be used as insulating glass; uncoated they are used as single-pane safety glass or laminated safety glass.

Saint-Gobain Building Glass Europe also offers complete service for the successful planning and realization of glass façades. This includes support in the search for façade planners and building physicists and advice on static and thermal analyses, as well as daylight and acoustic calculations. Our partnership creed, "Glass to the Max", encompasses services ranging from organisation, packaging and logistics right down to the construction site – and, from now on, also transport with our very own Saint-Gobain Glass Truck.

Come and see us at the glasstec, from 23 – 26 October 2018 in Düsseldorf: Hall 11, Stand A 24
