Mazor Surgical Technologies appoints Medical Robotics Veteran to lead US activities

With a proven track record as VP Sales at Intuitive Surgical, Christopher Sells expected to bring Mazor to center stage in US

(PresseBox) (Caesarea, Israel, ) Mazor Surgical Technologies has appointed Mr. Christopher Sells as VP of Sales for its US subsidiary. Mr. Sells specializes in medical robotics, and has spent the past twenty years developing, managing and leading various companies in the medical and healthcare industry, the last ten years focused on bringing robotic surgery technology to the US Market.

Prior to joining Mazor, Mr. Sells was Senior Vice President of Global Operations at Hansen Medical Inc. which specializes in flexible medical robotics. While there, Mr. Sells, catapulted revenues by more than 300% in 5 quarters and product utilization by over 100%.

Mr. Sells played a significant role as VP of Sales at Intuitive Surgical Inc., establishing the daVinci Surgical Robotic System as the standard of care for prostatectomies. He merited consecutive US Vice President Awards for his achievements at Intuitive Surgical, which led to a 330% growth between 2001-2007.

Mazor's flagship product, SpineAssist®, is a robotic guidance system for spine surgeries, ensuring consistent accuracy, precision and safety to patients. SpineAssist has been successfully used in approximately 1,200 surgeries around the world, facilitating the accurate placement of over 6,000 implants, with no reported cases of nerve damage. Over 50% of these procedures were performed with a minimally invasive approach, while the average use of minimally invasive approaches within the spinal surgery market varies between 5% to 20% of spine surgeries.
