IBC 2015: Lawo V__remote4 and more IP-based video products to be launched today at 12am

Lawo, a leading manufacturer of digital audio consoles and IP-based video routing equipment, is set to release new video products at IBC (Hall8 Stand B50). Designed to provide a one-box solution for all the requirements of video and audio signal transportation and processing in WAN-based remote productions, Lawo’s V__remote4 is a powerful bidirectional Video/Audio-to-IP interface.

Ultra-compact in its 1U rackmount housing, the V__remote4 includes everything from J2K Video-over-IP coding to various monitoring and processing tools. Its virtual cabling capability brings immediate IP infrastructure advantages and cost savings, providing an unmatched level of flexibility and scalability.

The unit allows production-quality parallel encoding and decoding of up to four uncompressed, raw format video streams (SMPTE2022-6/-7 compliant) and four JPEG2000 video streams (VSF-TR01 compliant), as well as parallel encoding of four MJPEG and two H.264 video streams for monitoring. It also supports source-timed, frame-accurate switching of SMPTE2022-6 video, in combination with VSM control systems. Its extremely robust J2K codec and its SMPTE2022-7 compatible port redundancy ensure uncompromised signal availability and quality. Lawo’s EPS technology supports system designs with true hardware and network redundancy.

V__remote4 also handles frame synchronization for each channel, provides two surround-to-stereo downmixers per embedder, time-code and sync generation, and A/V sync measurement. It also manages time-code insertion and video ID generation for each channel, and audio and video delays for each channel.

Also part of the V__remote4 suite of functions is a Dolby E Auto Aligner, Quadsplit Multiviewer, and waveform and vectorscope displays.

Complementing the V__remote4, Lawo’s V__view1 IP-to-HDMI interface converts IP-based MJPEG streams with low latency into HDMI signals for low-latency IP video monitoring. The unit is small and slim enough to be mounted on the rear of standard computer monitors, providing cost-efficient monitoring for CA-TV applications with an end-to-end delay of fewer than three frames – e.g. at commentary positions or backstage.

As signals are streamed via IP, COTS switches or an existing IP infrastructure can be used to distribute both video and audio signals. Selection of available streams is possible via an optional USB-remote control panel.

V__view1 is also available as V__view_app – a Java-based software-only solution compatible with any computer using a Java Runtime environment (Windows, Mac OS X or Linux) enabling standard PCs to receive and show low-latency MJPEG streams from Lawo V__line devices.

V__link4 product update: Sony HDC cameras go Lawo

Lawo V__link4 systems are now compatible with Sony HDC Cameras, providing a fully IP-based stagebox solution that is ideally suited to OB trucks and productions operated over long distances – such as golf tournaments. HDC-2500/1500 cameras in the field can be connected to the HDCE-200 camera extension adaptor via SMPTE-fiber for power. Up to four HDCE-200s can be simultaneously connected to V__link4 (or V__remote4) stageboxes for long-distance, network-based transport to the HDCU camera control unit in the truck or control room.

V__pro8 product update: V__pro8 goes DOLBY E®

The V__pro8 8-channel video processing toolkit now also includes a DOLBY E® encoding/decoding option with up to four DOLBY E® encoders or decoders. It provides fully compatible en/decoding of professional quality multichannel audio on a single AES3 connection with Dolby E® metadata handling. In combination with the unit’s Dolby E® Auto Aligner, the V__pro 8 promises the perfect transmission path gateway for multichannel productions.
