John Deere responds to the customer feedback with more productive, more efficient and premium quality E-series machines
Numerous of improvements in the power train design increase machine lifecycle and lower daily operational costs. As an example, the strenghtened E-Series middle joint and a new brake cylinder, strenghtend design of the boom frame and harvester head frame ensure the machine stays productive year after year. Improved CAN bus with easy diagnostics increase the reliability with no false alarms. Automation reliability is further enhanced by the upgrades in sensoring and by software improvements.

New TimberMaticTM H-12 Control System
The new TimberMaticTM H-12 Control System features a configurable user interface. This simplifies navigation through the system and helps to focus on the job at hand. TimberMatic H-12 also includes shortcut keys, interactive selections that help synchronizing operating parameters and multimedia help for easy access to operating and maintenance instructions. The recently launched Sequence Control for feeding and cutting makes tree processing fast, easy and more productive.
The new Processing Power Control (PPC) system with a three step power level selection allows operators to adjust the machine based on their momentary performance needs and thus helps optimizing the fuel economy while maintaining the high productivity.
Exclusive John Deere TimberLinkTM monitoring system
The exclusive John Deere TimberLinkTM monitoring system - an integrated suite of information services for optimizing equipment and total productivity - now features an operator report with even more detailed differences with built-in information to other harvester operators working under similar conditions. The system also provides the operator with individual guidance for working method development.
New TimberOfficeTM 5.0
The new TimberOfficeTM 5.0 Fleet Management package effectively combines the information collected by its Fleet Management, Bucking Instructions and Data Transfer features, as well the data from TimberNavi and TimberCalc software. Fleet Management provides an overview as well as specific information of the machine fleet, each machine and each operator. It monitors machine performance and fuel economy; collects the working hours, production, TimberLink and control measurement data. Bucking Instructions are used for compiling and modifying bucking files in harvesters. Information from the new TimberOffice Fleet Management system supports decisionmaking and helps to run a successful logging operation.
New IT4 harvesters introduced at FinnMetko 2012
John Deere continues to lead the forestry industry in innovative technologies with the introduction of new E-Series IT4 (Interim Tier 4, Stage 3B in Europe) compliant wheeled harvesters at FinnMetko 2012. The 1270E and 1470E IT4 models, specifically, are equipped with new features and enhancements that give operators more power, greater productivity and higher uptime.
John Deere 1270E and 1470E IT4 harvesters feature an advanced hydraulic power solution that utilizes two open loop pumps - giving operators highly efficient, simultaneous boom and woodprocessing control. The hydraulic power solution includes a new power management feature that anticipates the engine load and responds with an appropriate power surge for improved fuel economy and total productivity, ultimately helping to reduce daily operating costs.
The JDLinkTM machine and fleet management system is designed to remotely connect machine owners and service personnel to their equipment by providing real-time alerts and machine information needed, such as location, utilization, fuel consumption and maintenance data. JDLink also enables automatic engine software updating and improved service support.
With JDLink, the TimberMatic control system and forest machine control modules transmit machine information through a wireless Modular Telematics Gateway and a cellular connection to the JDLink server. An optional satellite connection is available for machines working at sites where a cellular signal is not consistently available.
John Deere's integrated and proven IT4 technology for best fluid economy
John Deere's solution is centered on cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in a "closed loop" control system that precisely mixes exhaust gas with incoming fresh air to lower the engine's peak combustion temperature, thereby reducing nitrogen oxide emissions. This approach is proven, provides the best total fluid economy and is less costly than alternative solutions. EGR doesn't require the added cost of a second fluid to operate, allowing operators to use the equipment the same way they always have. The John Deere EGR system supports the development of an exhaust gas after-treatment device that consists of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) to further reduce PM.
