German-Based hcc GmbH Enters Chinese Market, Enables Know-how Exchange
CMEF in Fuzhou Showcases Key Trends in Healthcare IT, IVD, and Medical Imaging in the People's Republic
From Europe, hcc GmbH was among exhibitors at the German Pavilion, presenting its HIS myCare2x together with its partner SAINS from Malaysia. The solution from this SME integrates all types of information and services in these organizations into one single efficient information system; for CMEF, it sported a brand new user interface in Chinese. "At present, the government here is doing a lot to improve the standard of care. After providing hospitals with image devices there is now a big need for collecting treatment data and making it available to care professionals", explained Joachim Mollin in Fuzhou. "That's why hospitals are asking for electronic medical record (EMR) systems to channel the data and provide better healthcare. Gathering all treatment data together helps the patient particularly in cases where he/she is referred to another organization for further treatment", continued hcc GmbH's CEO.
How can an IT vendor adapt to these requirements? Solutions for the Chinese healthcare market have to be localized, smart (intuitive to learn), and in compliance with strict rules for scanning treatment data. "In addition, they have to be very communicative, which means they have to be integrated with a large range of devices, and follow international standards for communication and information management", underlined Mollin. According to the executive who sports an extensive track record in the healthcare market, web-based solutions need to come with a stringent concept for internal navigation (clinical pathways and workflows) as a key success factor for solutions in the Chinese market. Solutions should allow for switching between English and Chinese user interfaces. Mollin: "In adapting mycare2x for China, these core criteria have been of paramount importance to us".
There is another major driver for success - competent and efficient support from local partners. "On-time delivery with regard to requirements from customers is a must", said hcc's CEO. "Our commitment to supporting and developing an open framework and the main functionality with our team from Germany, and to enable excellence on the part of local partners through continuous transfer of know-how for customization and support in target markets, will be the key factor for success in China", summarized Mollin.
To be among the pioneers entering this huge market, with a philosophy of open system design, will help hcc to set standards in the People's Republic. According to Mollin, "the market for healthcare IT solutions here is growing at a slow pace - it will take some years of patience to build trust in our solution. We look forward to this fascinating challenge for our company".
