Handtmann expands its application variety again

World premiere at AMB: HBZ TR 80 with turning function.

(PresseBox) (Baienfurt, ) With the HBZ TR 80 T Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH ‐ located in Baienfurt - is presenting its first machining centre with the turning option and thus introduces another innovation of the HBZ Trunnion series. Thereby, Handtmann expands the already broad application area of the HBZ Trunnion 5‐axis HPC horizontal machining centres in terms of workpiece size (max. Ø: 850; 1,300; 1,700 mm), materials (aluminium, steel, titanium) and industries (mould, die and tool making, aerospace, automotive, etc.) by mill‐turn operations.

At this year's AMB in Stuttgart Handtmann A‐Punkt will present two machines of the HBZ Trunnion series ‐ live in operation: HBZ TR 80 T and HBZ TR 120. The 5‐axis HPC horizontal machining centres cover a wide range of applications in titanium, steel, aluminum and other materials in light and heavy‐duty operations for different workpiece sizes up to max. 1.700 mm Ø.

The machine concept guarantees best performance in machining various workpieces. Reasons are a compact and rigid machine design, a double bedded and driven NC‐swivel‐rotary‐table as well as a wide range of spindles for optimized customization. Spindles can vary from a high‐torque spindle with max. 1,010 Nm and HSK 100 tool interface to a highpower spindle with max. 30,000 rpm and 156 kW for aluminum machining. Due to the horizontal machine concept the big chip volume of high performance cutting is removed fast and permanently from the workpiece and out of the workzone.

Furthermore, the horizontal concept provides an advantage for workpieces with deep cavities. High travel speeds up to 60 m/min, accelerations up to 1G respectively 0,6 G and a wide variety of automation solutions provide high productivity and precision during dynamic 5‐axis machining.

Since the first public presentation of the HBZ Trunnion at AMB 2012 in Stuttgart/Germany the machines of the Trunnion series have been well accepted in the markets and are in production at companies of various industries. The machine concept is constantly being further developed regarding features and options to meet current and also future market requirements.

At this year's AMB in Stuttgart Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH presents with the HBZ TR 80 T the optional turning function which expands the application area of the machines by far. 5‐axis full machining in one clamping is now possible for mill‐turn‐workpieces.

"The AMB will be one of our most important trade shows this year. With our solutions regarding productive 5‐axis simultaneous machining of different materials and workpiece sizes, our live presentation of the HBZ TR 120 and launch of HBZ TR 80 T in operation we want to highlight the current industry trends," states Andreas Podiebrad, Managing Director of Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH.

Handtmann at IMTS in Chicago:

Together with our US‐American subsidiary "Handtmann CNC Technologies, Inc.", located in East Dundee,Chicago/Illinois Handtmann will be exhibiting at IMTS show in Chicago only one week before the AMB in Stuttgart. At IMTS, Handtmann will be presenting the HBZ Trunnion 80 and the HBZ Trunnion 120.
