Hamamatsu introduces the new ORCA-Flash2.8 Scientific CMOS camera

(PresseBox) (Herrsching am Ammersee, ) Hamamatsu introduces the new ORCA-Flash2.8, the first highsensitivity digital camera based on a unique 2.8 M pixel nextgeneration Scientific CMOS image sensor. Designed for lowlight imaging at high frame rates, this new camera combines high resolution, high sensitivity, high speed and low noise, with a price / performance level that is unmatched.

Combined with ease of interface with external peripheral equipment makes it suitable for a wide variety of applications such as lifescience microscopy, industrial imaging and sensitive analytical measurement.

45 frames / second are output in full resolution, making it ideal for fast, lowintensity imaging.The ORCA Flash2.8 can achieve a maximum speed of 1273 frames / second in subarray mode. The cooled FL-280 sensor's design keeps readout noise minimal at 3 electrons, even with very fast readout speeds. The camera's 12bit output interfaces with a PC via a standard CameraLink base framegrabber.

As part of their longterm development program, Hamamatsu's ORCA Flash2.8 cameras are now being delivered to customers. By combining the benefits of nextgeneration Scientific CMOS sensors with the qualities of the industryleading ORCA range, Hamamatsu are now able to offer customers the ability to capture images with a price / performance level that is unmatched.
