GMG and X-Rite partner globally to develop new standardization solutions for the Graphic Arts industry

(PresseBox) (Tuebingen/Birmingham, ) GMG, developer and supplier of highend color management and proofing solutions, is pleased to announce today a new global partnership with X-Rite, the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies. Both companies have jointly developed a new line of X-Ritebranded automated print quality control and standardization solutions for the graphic arts industry.

The four new, wizarddriven, software solutions will allow pressroom operators and print buyers to track a job from contract to delivery to ensure consistent quality consistency and standards compliance. These solutions will support all of X-Rite prepress and printing instruments, and will be offered exclusively through X-Rite's worldwide network of sales partners.

The new, jointly developed, solutions will include four different packages tailored to meet the stringent quality control and standardization needs of print buyers and printing professionals:
- PressOptimizer, for midsize to large offset printing houses, offers an easytouse solution for effective process control and press standardization. PressOptimizer can significantly increase print quality, even on older presses, and allows users to achieve the same colors on different presses.
- PrintCheck is designed to meet the qualitycontrol needs of small to midsize offset printing houses. It informs the printer when a press is operating within a defined standard.
- PrintCheck Reader is targeted at print customers and print buyers. It is a free downloadable software that allows users to easily import print quality data for further verification of print quality.
- PrintCheck Review is targeted at professional print buyers (brand owners, advertising agencies, publishing houses, packaging designers) who wish to check print quality themselves.

GMG will continue to support existing customers of GMG RapidCheck and GMG PrintControl. Together with GMG ColorServer and GMG InkOptimizer, GMG PrintControl continues to be part of GMG's ProcessControl bundle, the standardization bundle for sheetfed printers.

"At GMG we are thrilled to be working with X-Rite to bring these solutions to the market place. X-Rite's industryleading workflows are a natural fit with the production reliability delivered through our affordable and intuitive software products," comments Paul Willems, CEO of GMG GmbH & Co. KG. "We believe that by working together, we can deliver stateoftheart process and quality control solutions to the global printing industry community."

"We are very excited to be involved in the development of the next iteration of GMG's verification software portfolio, and to become the exclusive worldwide reseller for these solutions," comments Tom Vacchiano, X-Rite's CEO. "Through our partnership with GMG we are expanding the functionality of today's automated verification offerings to meet the industry's increasing need for process control and standardization."

The new X-Rite PressOptimizer and PrintCheck portfolio will be unveiled to the public for the first time at IPEX (May 18-25, NEC, Birmingham, UK) on the X-Rite stand (Hall 10 stand D260).

GMG GmbH & Co. KG

The software company founded in 1984 and located in Tuebingen, near Stuttgart, Germany, has a worldwide distribution network with local presence in France, Spain, Benelux, Nordic, the UK, Asia and the Americas. GMG has specialized in highend color management for the entire graphic arts industry. Today, more than 10,000 systems have been sold across the industry spectrum from ad agencies, prepress houses and offset printers to newspapers, flexo converters and international gravure printing plants. In fact, the GMG ColorProof system has become the defacto standard of Europe's extensive gravure printing industry.

About the GMG family of products: GMG ColorProof, a color management software system, provides the most accurate way of calibrating digital inkjet proofing engines to produce digital contract color proofs, precisely matched to the printing press. GMG DotProof® enables users to generate contract quality halftone proofs, using the original bitmap data of the output RIP. Specifically tailored to the needs of the packaging industry is GMG FlexoProof, which supports specific flexo file formats and includes a complete Pantone® spot color library, along with other functions. GMG ColorServer is a tool for automatic color conversions - CMYKto-CMYK, RGBto-CMYK and RGBto-RGB - for more efficient workflows. The GMG SmartProfiler wizard allows the profiling and calibration of different output devices, such as digital presses or large format systems, easily and quickly. GMG InkOptimizer automatically reduces chromatic colors, thus providing cost savings by reducing unnecessary ink usage, along with better print stability on press. GMG ProofControl is the ideal solution for instant, coloraccurate verification of proofs. GMG PrintControl is one single software for standardizing the press from start to finish. GMG RapidCheck is a verification tool to control the printing process at a click of the mouse. GMG Media is a range of proofingspecific papers and films for the most popular inkjet printers. They are manufactured to high tolerances for color critical applications, available in a range of sizes.
