(PresseBox) (Idstein, ) During the MipTec conference 2101, which took place end of September in Basel, the German chapter of the European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group ( organised a successful discussion on the use of label free technologies in drug discovery.

Users from industry and academia presented their experiences with different label free technologies followed by advantages and disadvantages being discussed on the podium. About 70 attendees followed the presentations and actively participated in the discussion.

The great interest in this event demonstrates how important these Label Free technologies have become during recent years. While label free biochemical assays have been an inherent part of the drug discovery process for a long time, their use in cell based assays is still questioned in terms of specificity, selectivity and the sophisticated analysis of the resulting data sets.

To date cell based label free technologies have mostly been used for GPCR targets. However, other applications as proliferation, cytotoxicity, chemotaxis, viral infections and ion channels, can be addressed as well. There will be a greater focus on these applications during the further development of the technology.

The next event organized by will take place at November 25th in Darmstadt. The annual forum will address the topic of compound management. To register for this complimentary event refer to
