EPTDA elects new board in Istanbul at yet another successful Annual Convention

(PresseBox) (Istanbul, ) EPTDA, the leading association in the PT/MC industry in the EMEA region hosted, for its Annual Convention, around 400 Power Transmission & Motion Control executives and industry leaders in Turkey, a key growth market for the association. The Istanbul Annual Convention, with a record nearly 140 first timers, is a direct proof for the success of the association's efforts of expansion.

Sixteen years ago EPTDA started with 38 members and today, with almost 250 member companies - 129 distributors, 102 manufacturers and 15 associates - the association is the market leader in industrial distribution. The association is also investing a lot of efforts into broadening its geographical expansion in order to create new added value and reach new markets for its members. Hosting its 2014 Annual Convention in Istanbul is a strong signal of the association's firm commitment towards new markets. The association is welcoming over 10 Turkish companies as members and over 15 Turkish companies as first timers to its Annual Convention.

"Turkey is an important growth market for EPTDA. A great majority of the European Members are already active in Turkey and we are truly excited about bringing new PT/MC companies from the region to our membership base. I am confident that our new board of directors and new president will continue to drive and grow momentum not only in local but also in emerging markets. "said Hans Hanegreefs, Executive Vice President of EPTDA.

During the convention, EPTDA also announced the appointment of its 2015 Board of Directors at its 17th Annual Convention in Istanbul.

The new Board of Directors will be headed by Mrs. Elisabeth Meister as the new President of the association. "I am truly honoured to be taking over the challenge of EPTDA's President. In 1998, we started out as a small community of influencers who wanted to voice their collective concerns and raise awareness about the PT/MC industry. Today, we have grown to be a very recognized leading association in 32 countries across Europe, Middle East, Africa. I look forward to continuing the strong legacy built by my predecessors and help lead EPTDA into a dynamic new era of success and growth. "said Elisabeth Meister, 2015 President EPTDA.

Elisabeth Meister together with Meino Noordenbos, past president, and the entire board will continue to strengthen the association's strategic objectives with focus on the following:

"We will work on promoting further education for our industry through targeted training and development programmes for all PT/MC professionals in the EMEA region. We will also work towards advocating transparency in the supply chain to provide our members with better forecast on volumes. Visibility into the future of inventory and trends is crucial to the survival and progress of industrial distribution. "

Coming back to the EPTDA Annual Convention in Istanbul, the well-attended Distribution Forum has touched upon how the internet will influence the future of our industry, more specifically, about the rise of e-Commerce. The convention speakers, Mr Tom Gale (Gale Media) and Mr Jonathan Collins (Grainger USA) have shared very helpful insights on the topic and this stimulated a good Q&A session during the forum facilitated by one of the EPTDA Advisory Council members, Roberto Cugnaschi from Mondial Spa.

This year's MD-IDEX meetings sessions crossed last year's record year counting now more than 900 distributor-manufacturer meetings. The MD-IDEX programme took place in the last day of our annual convention in Istanbul, Turkey and is regarded as the most important benefit of EPTDA membership. It is the one and only platform in EMEA facilitating business-to-business meetings between key industrial distributors and PT/MC manufacturers.

EPTDA is a socially responsible association and is fully committed to caring for those in need. Every year, EPTDA commits to donating to a local association from the city where the Annual Convention takes place. This year, the chosen association was Tohum Turkey Autism Early Diagnosis and Education Foundation from Istanbul. This foundation was established in 2003 as a health and education organisation to ensure early diagnosis of children with autism and pervasive development disorders, striving to help them play an active part in society. EPTDA as an association and its individual members managed to raise around 11,000EUR for Tohum last week in Istanbul and we are happy that with this money, two children will benefit from a one year-long programme scholarship each.

With equally great expectations and enthusiasm, EPTDA looks forward to welcoming you to Barcelona at our 2015 Annual Convention, from 23- 25 September.
