- Merger of companies' H-gas market areas as of 1 October 2008
- New company - NetConnect Germany - is to implement market area cooperation by providing nationwide services
The gas transmission companies E.ON Gastransport and bayernets are establishing the first nationwide cooperation between market areas in Germany by merging their H-gas market areas as of 1 October 2008.
NetConnect Germany, based in Ratingen near Düsseldorf, is the company set up to implement market area cooperation. Its business areas are balancing group management, provision and operation of a virtual trading point and introduction of a web-based market area information platform to provide e.g. billing and control energy data. The new company will offer nationwide products across market areas and customer-friendly services for network operators and shippers. bayernets has a stake of 25.1 % in the company, and E.ON Gastransport 74.9 %. The aim of NetConnect Germany is to gain further partners or shareholders.
"We are very pleased that a joint market area is being established at this time in particular," said Rainer Dumke, Managing Director of bayernets. "Our joint H-gas market area handling over 50 % of H-gas transported in Germany is a visible sign of the further simplification of gas network access in Germany," Mr. Dumke added.
"It was only possible to clarify important aspects of the implementation of market area cooperation through close collaboration with bayernets and not least the Federal Network Agency," said Stephan Kamphues, Chairman of the Management Board. "Further cases of market area cooperation will now follow," Mr. Kamphues pointed out.
H-gas is high-calorific natural gas primarily delivered from Norway and Russia to Germany. It has a higher energy content than L-gas, which is imported from the Netherlands to Germany.
