The Sri Lankan Prime Minister made a visit to a Norwegian robot technology company with Norwegian-Sri Lankan development team. Now, they want to bring the solution home.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe is at an official state visit in Norway, with a mission to strengthen the industry collaboration between Norway and Sri Lanka. A central topic is digitization, which is an area where Sri Lanka and Norway already have a successful collaborative model, but also where the potential for interaction and profitable business relationships are huge.

Element Logic and TIQRI Corporation invited The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sri Lankan Prime Minister with delegation to XXLs warehouse storage at Gardermoen to demonstrate the fully automated robot-storage solution delivered by Element Logic. XXL is the largest sporting goods retailer in the Nordic region.

The Norwegian-Sri Lankan company TIQRI Corporation which is started and run by Finn Worm-Petersen has contributed with development teams from Sri Lanka to Scandinavia, Europe and Australia throughout the last 10 years. Worm-Petersen has been an important and central resource for the strong collaboration across the borders of Norway and Sri Lanka.
“We started collaborating with Element Logic in 2008, and this year we are celebrating 10 years together. Our team has put down over 150.000 work hours on this project, and has built a great competency within automated robot solutions. Together with Element Logic, we have a good and transparent collaboration, where the team has been to Norway on monthly basis over a period of time. This is extremely important to get a good understanding on what Element Logic is delivering to their clients, and of course to build trust and relations.”

Sri Lanka will set up an automated warehousing and packaging facility with robotics capabilities in collaboration with Norway's Element Logic and TIQRI, the Prime Minister's office said Thursday.

Element Logic started their cooperation with XXL in 2010 with integration of AutoStore and has since then, worked closely together and even expanded the plant from originally 10,000 bins to 115,000 bins in under 8 years. Efficiency has increased and the system is very reliable with today's 88 high speed battery driven robots that deliver all day - and night, says CEO in Element Logic, Dag-Adler Blakseth.

The Prime Minister also visited The Norwegian Coastal Administration in Horten, where Kongsberg Maritime and Kongsberg Norcontrol has delivered high-tech solutions within maritime and fishery monitoring.
The official visit also entailed a number of official meetings, with among others the Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide and The Minister of International Development, Nikolai Astrup.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the official visit has strengthen the collaboration between the two countries, something that will contribute to new opportunities and services in both countries.
