Symposium "Public-Private Cooperation in the Fight against Corruption" on June 5th 2013Luxemburg, )
This event intends to draw participation from governments, international organizations, EU bodies, and private businesses. Several Ministers of Justice will be among the attendees. The symposium will open with a thematic session on the relationship between integrity and competitiveness, addressing topics such as special concerns of small and medium sized enterprises in the fight against corruption, corruption as a risk to competitiveness, and collective action in anti-corruption.
Throughout the second session, talks will centre on the effects of the rule of law and deregulation on anti-corruption - what the government can do and what the role of the private sector should be. Corruption prevention in parliaments, governments, and the judiciary, the implementation of anti-corruption legislation, as well as the enhancement of anti-corruption enforcement, will be given particular attention.
A high-level segment with the actual and future relevance of public-private cooperation in the fight against corruption will be at the centre of the debate. The panel will also feature reports from the thematic sessions. Panelists include IACA's Dean, Martin Kreutner; the President of Luxembourg's Chamber of Commerce, Michel Wurth; H.E. Octavie Modert as the chair, with an intervention from the EU Commission's Vice-President, Viviane Reding.
The high-level segment will be followed by a networking dinner which will take place at 19.30.
