Cadillac in the fast lane with fresh, enhanced portfolio

(PresseBox) (Zurich, ) .
- 2015 car line-up to feature new Cadillac crest
- Cordless charging: reducing clutter and adding new functions
- ATS Coupe and Escalade set for launch in second half of 2014
- More power and safety features for the ATS

Cadillac is introducing cordless charging for mobile devices on the 2015 CTS Premium Sedan and ATS Sport Sedan and Coupe, one of numerous highlights of the new portfolio being introduced in Europe in the second half of this year. The all-new ATS Coupe, to be launched in October, will be the first to feature the new Cadillac crest, followed by its sibling models ATS and CTS sedan, and the Escalade as of the new model year.

"Our latest portfolio, which includes the ATS, ATS Coupe, CTS, SRX crossover and Escalade full-size premium SUV, are outstanding and very distinct cars in their respective classes. They are set to attract European customers to the American premium brand," said Thomas Sedran, President and Managing Director of Cadillac and Chevrolet Europe. "We are excited to offer a growing line-up of cars that excel not only in design, but also in performance, safety and comfort as well as connectivity."

Powermat revolution

The introduction of wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model range will help drivers reduce clutter and add functions to an already rich choice. Powermat will effectively end the need for cords on board.

Following its introduction into the 2015 ATS, wireless charging technology will be added to the CTS premium sedan and the Escalade SUV.

"Connectivity is one of the hallmarks of Cadillac," emphasizes Sedran. "Our sophisticated CUE infotainment system accommodates the wireless link of up to 10 devices. With wireless charging, Cadillac is offering further conveniences that are quickly becoming essential customer needs."

Powermat enables the phone to simply sit on a rubberized pad. The battery is charged by means of an electromagnetic field. An increasing number of smartphones have wireless charging either embedded or as an option. The wireless charger GM and Powermat jointly created accommodates the majority of these enabled devices*.

The wireless charging feature will be located inside the storage compartment behind the motorized center instrument panel faceplate of the ATS. This location creates a convenient option for drivers, allowing them to keep their hands on the wheel. Using Bluetooth®, a driver can pair his or her phone to the vehicle and enjoy many of the connectivity elements of the mobile device while the phone is conveniently out of the way and charging at the same time.

All-new ATS Coupe - supreme driving pleasure

The ATS Coupe comes with serious credentials: it is nimble, quick and a joy to drive. Sitting on the same 2,775 mm wheelbase as its sibling, the ATS Sport Sedan, the coupe features wider front and rear tracks that help the car grip the road with even more tenacity.

The roof, doors, rear fenders and trunk lid are unique to the coupe, along with a specific front fascia and front fenders. It is also the first production model to wear Cadillac's new crest.

The coupe is powered by an updated 2.0L turbocharged engine that develops an impressive 400 Nm of torque - 90 percent of which is available between 2,100-3,000 rpm. It churns out peak power at between 3,000 to 4,600 rpm. The broad torque range gives the lightweight ATS Coupe the feeling of immediate power on demand. At 138hp/L, the engine is among the most power-dense in the segment. It produces 276 hp (203 kW).

Key elements that contribute to the ATS Coupe's responsive ride characteristics include a nearly perfect 50/50 weight balance, low center of gravity, refined suspension, and Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control real-time damping system, the world's fastest-acting suspension system.

Inside, the driver-focused cabin features handcrafted cut-and-sewn upholstered interior combinations, decorative stitching and authentic materials, including leather, aluminum, carbon fiber and wood, all intended to enhance the emotional connection to the driving experience.

Standard features, such as Brembo® performance front brakes, sport alloy pedals and a thick rim sport steering wheel with magnesium paddle shifters, highlight the coupe's sportive character.

All ATS Coupe versions are equipped with the CUE infotainment system, which is built around an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen and designed to enhance the driving experience and complement customers' increasingly connected lifestyles.

The coupe provides the same safety technologies that earned the sedan the highest available 5-star overall crash safety rating in the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) administered by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Keeping the good bits - ATS Sedan

The ATS Sport Sedan continues in its tradition of offering discerning Cadillac customers a premium all-round package with a high level of standard features, which need to be ordered as options elsewhere.

New features for 2015 include the redesigned grille and bumper with the new Cadillac crest, and enhanced active safety features. The Driver Awareness Package has been updated to incorporate Lane Keep Assist, a further development to the Lane Departure Warning feature. The Driver Assist Package, which combines short and long range radar-based technologies, includes the safety features in the Driver Awareness Package, plus:

- Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control
- Collision Mitigation Braking
- Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Automatic Seat Belt Tightening.

As with the ATS Coupe, the torque increased by 14 percent to peak at an impressive 400 Nm.

New interior designs - including semi-aniline leather, the Elegance Collection and two exterior colors, Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic - are now available.

New Escalade with radically new design

The fourth-generation Escalade is a bold, entirely new yet instantly recognizable design. It establishes new benchmarks for hand-tailored craftsmanship and technology. The new Escalade goes on sale in Europe toward the end of 2014 and, for the first time, will also be available as an extended-length version (ESV) in this part of the world.

Offered exclusively with an AWD drivetrain, Cadillac's most prestigious SUV features a new 6.2L V-8 engine that is more powerful and efficient compared with its predecessor. It comes with Magnetic Ride Control, the world's fastest-reacting suspension system, as standard.

The exterior features crisp and sophisticated surfaces, accented by dramatic light-emitting diode (LED) lighting. The comprehensively redesigned interior offers more comfortable seats, hand-cut, sewn and wrapped leather with wood trim options. CUE, Cadillac's advanced system for connectivity and control, is standard.

CTS shines in new colors

Launched in Europe this spring, the Cadillac CTS sedan gets two new exterior colors - Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic - for model year 2015. It will also wear the new Cadillac crest.

The CTS' turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine develops 276 hp at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of peak torque between 3,000 and 4,500 rpm. Magnetic Ride Control, Cadillac's ultra-precise real-time damping system, is a standard feature on all CTS models.

A host of advanced yet intuitive driver controls, the Cadillac CUE infotainment system, and an array of sophisticated safety features combine a high level of convenience with maximum occupant protection.

The 2015 CTS will have an enhanced Driver Awareness Package similar to the ATS and a new Driver Assist Package including Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking and Automatic Seat Belt Tightening. The updated automatic parking features perpendicular-parking capabilities in addition to the already existing parallel-parking assist. The Elegance Collection marks the new entry-level CTS offering.

SRX - the distinctively designed premium crossover SUV

Cadillac's SRX Crossover continues to be popular among SUV buyers thanks to its unique combination of distinct design, excellent performance - it is powered by a 318 hp/234 kW 3.6-liter V6 engine, propelling the all-wheel-drive SRX from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds - and an array of safety and comfort features, including advanced driver awareness technologies.

Two new exterior colors, Cocoa Bronze Metallic and Majestic Plum Metallic, distinguish the 2015 SRX.

Text-to-Voice for CUE

For 2015, CUE includes new enhanced content, such as Text-to-Voice, which reads incoming texts through the car's speakers. A compatible smartphone with Bluetooth profile and applicable text messaging feature are required.

* An accessory may be required to use the feature
