Basler receives major contract from the solar industry
Basler’s inspection systems will be used to avoid material breach in the ongoing production process and to increase the production yield. Special emphasis is placed on the detection of so-called micro cracks that can lead to the breaking of solar wafers in the production process. Once they have been detected, the defect solar wafers can be channelled out of the production process, leading to a significant reduction in the breach rate and hence a direct increase in the yield. The Basler systems even reliably detect and channel out solar wafers that include foreign materials. The information on defect solar wafer characteristics collected by the inspection system’s evaluation software allows for a continuous and systematic improvement of the production process. Basler’s inspection technology enables solar wafer producers to manufacture a larger number of high-quality products from silicon, a scarce raw material, in a shorter period of time than previously possible.
The unique performance of Basler’s recently launched product line was the decisive reason for awarding the contract to Basler. This contract will establish Basler as the leading inspection technology partner for the solar industry and forms an essential strategic milestone on the company’s path to market leadership in this important sunrise industry.
