Cognis at FiSA 2010: modern nutrition with a feel-good factor

(PresseBox) (Monheim, ) At this year's Food ingredients South America (FiSA), Cognis Nutrition & Health presented its latest products and solutions meeting the demands for modern nutrition. In line with the company's "Newtrition(TM) - Eat.Feel.Live." strategy, these enable manufacturers to develop high-quality finished products that will appeal to today's wellness-conscious consumers. Cognis also presented natural preservatives and antioxidants that fit with the "clean label" trend, and announced the opening of a new production facility for food performance ingredients at its site in Jacareí, Brazil, in 2011.

Increasingly, consumers are looking for food products not only to provide them with basic nutrition and health benefits, but also to enhance their sense of well-being and pleasure. With its "Newtrition(TM) - Eat. Feel. Live." strategy, Cognis Nutrition & Health has developed its own wellness-based model for aligning products and solutions with market demands. At this year's Food ingredients South America (FiSA), Cognis exhibited a range of ingredients, all of them associated with at least one of the five well-being benefits identified as key to this strategy - beauty, vitality, protection, inner balance, and joy and pleasure. It also showed a number of consumer products using these ingredients and developed in close cooperation with its customers.

Joy & Pleasure

In today's hectic world, people often like to give themselves a treat that makes them feel good. The Vanilla Muffins are made with Cognis' Spongolit aerating emulsifiers that not only ensure outstanding stability, volume and crumb structure, but also enable manufacturers to formulate light and delicious egg-free, low-cholesterol cakes. Another beauty-oriented product concept exhibited at the show was Shape Up. Produced in partnership with Sanomed GmbH, Shape Up is a pleasant tasting multi-fruit flavored dietary supplement, containing Tonalin® CLA to improve body composition. It is supplied in 25-milliliter ampoules, aimed at active, body-conscious people who are unable or unwilling to take capsules. New Cognis production facility in Brazil

Also on show at FiSA were various performance ingredients: Cognis' Spongolit aerating emulsifiers for cakes and Lamequick whipping agents for desserts and creams, and Nutrilife enzyme compounds for baked goods. "To further improve our ability to serve the increasing demand for these high-quality food ingredients in South America, we will be opening a new state-of-the-art production facility at our site in Jacareí, Brazil," says Holger Riemensperger, Global Business Director. "The production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2011. A local competence center will also be opened, and this will help to develop food solutions specifically aimed at the South American market."

The products we presented offer ideas for food, beverage and dietary supplement products that make people feel good and strengthen customers' brands.
