Cognis Care Chemicals and Laboratoires Sérobiologiques at In-Cosmetics Asia: new solutions to improve skin feel and achieve measurable cosmetic effects

(PresseBox) (Monheim am Rhein, ) At this year's In-Cosmetics trade show in Asia, to be held November 2 to 4 in Bangkok, Thailand, Cognis Care Chemicals and Laboratoires Sérobiologiques (LS) will focus on sensory properties, surfactants and proven active ingredients. They will present sophisticated products and formulations that provide an appealing skin feel, mild cleansing and measurable anti-aging and whitening effects. In addition, three new formulation concepts will give manufacturers new ideas about how to serve Asian consumers' demand for convenience, natural beauty and sustainability.

The Cognis Care Chemicals booth will feature new nature-based ingredients that enable manufacturers to create mild formulations with excellent skin feel:
- A fast-spreading emollient with good skin compatibility and a unique sensorial profile. It can be used as an alternative to cyclic silicones in various applications.
- An innovative PEG/EO-free cationic rheology control additive for hair conditioners and skin care formulations. It offers improved electrolyte tolerance and viscosity behavior, as well as excellent skin and hair sensorics.
- Cognis alkyl polyglucoside (APG®) surfactants. They combine good skin cleansing performance with exceptional mildness, and are perfect for meeting the requirements of Asian consumers, who typically have sensitive skin and fragile hair. Obtained from renewable plant-derived raw materials, APG® surfactants can be used for a broad range of environmentally sound, high-performance personal care applications.

Laboratoires Sérobiologiques (LS) serves the Asian trend for whitening and anti-aging with three new innovative ingredients:

- A pure synthetic molecule with a significant and visible skin lightening and brightening effect and a mode of action different from tyrosinase inhibition. Additionally, it has a photoprotective effect on skin cells and helps to protect the skin against UV-induced damage.
- A maitake mushroom extract with dual anti-aging action. It helps skin counteract stress, and stimulates the synthesis of different types of essential collagens present in the dermis and dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ), thus counteracting the age-related decrease of these collagens and stimulating a high quality DEJ and dermis. As a result, skin thickness, firmness and elasticity are increased and skin looks plumped up and more youthful.
- A leaf extract from the African Manilkara tree with a four action mechanism. It protects elastic fibers from excessive degradation by elastases and has an anti-glycation activity. In addition, it stimulates the synthesis of elastin as well as essential elastin associated proteins, to ensure an optimal structuring of the elastic fiber network. As a result skin elasticity, firmness and resilience are increased.

New concepts for the Asian market

Cognis Care Chemicals and LS will also launch their new "Beauty and the city around Asia" formulation concept at In-Cosmetics. This presents new formulation concepts that meet the urban Asian trend towards convenience and innovation. Asian women want to enjoy a stylish modern lifestyle while at the same time respecting their cultural heritage. Cultures and technologies change quickly and merge with each other, leading to new trends that combine old and new ideals of beauty - and this is reflected in Cognis' formulations.

The "BB Cream: Blemish Balm for the wonderful nude skin of Asian beauty" is also aimed at urban Asian consumers. The advent of the digital age has had a big effect on the beauty industry, as the heightened scrutiny of high-definition means people increasingly seek truly flawless skin. Urban consumers are increasingly looking for high-quality products that provide multi-functions of skin care and decorative cosmetics for a moisturized, luminous, and natural look. The new Cognis concept shows how to meet this demand by including the company's latest emollients, emulsifiers and skin sensory modifiers.

"Silicone-free solutions for hair care" is the third concept that Cognis will present at In-Cosmetics Asia. It fits with the trend for replacing silicones with alternatives based on natural, renewable raw materials. In this concept, Cognis focuses on a transparent microemulsion and a micronized lipid dispersion, and shows how to use these to formulate silicone-free shampoos that offer the same excellent performance as conventional products.

Presentations on emulsifiers and anti-aging

Cognis Application Technology Manager, Sang-Uk Choi will hold an innovation seminar entitled "Emulsifiers in the Course of Time - Facing the Challenges of Ever Changing Formulations". He will provide a historical overview of emulsifier development, compare and measure the performance of state-of-the-art emulsifiers and showcase modern, economic and ecological emulsifiers. The seminar will take place in the Innovation Seminar Theatre on Tuesday, November 2 (1 p.m. - 1.20 p.m.)

A second presentation will be held by Dr. Gilles Pauly, Scientific Director of Laboratoires Sérobiologiques at the Facial Beauty Conference. It is entitled "New Approach to Skin Firmness and Elasticity". Pauly will present a novel and comprehensive anti-aging approach targeting the optimal maintain and protection of skin matrix structure. This approach will be illustrated by the latest study results. The presentation will take place in the Workshops & Conference Theatre on Wednesday, November 3 (3.30 p.m. - 4 p.m.)

"Cognis Care Chemicals and LS provide innovative solutions that enable manufacturers to succeed in Asian markets," says Young-Yull Kim, Vice President Care Chemicals Sales and Marketing Asia-Pacific. "The products and concepts presented at In-Cosmetics all meet Asian consumers' demands for high-quality products with excellent sensorics. Cognis is also ideally positioned to help manufacturers benefit from the growing sustainability trend in Asia. And with the recent opening of a new APG facility in China, Cognis can now serve its customers in the region better than ever."

The latest products and concepts from Cognis Care Chemicals and Laboratoires Sérobiologiques will be on display at booth E 50 and E 48. Journalists are welcome to visit the booths and interview the experts there.
