European architects: energy reduction important for their present projects

MA Rotterdam, (PresseBox) - Energy reduction is much more than just a phrase used by politicians, it has already become a practical issue of the highest importance in Western European construction. This is illustrated by results of market research carried out by Arch-Vision in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. In all six countries, most architects confirm that energy reduction is playing a large role in their current projects. Still, in Spain and the UK, issues about energy reduction seem less part of many architects' daily work than in many other countries.

In all countries covered in the research, more than half of the architects agree or strongly agree to the statement that energy reduction is of great importance in their present projects. In Germany, France and Italy, even three quarters or more of the architects are currently working on projects where energy reduction is an issue. A considerable share of the German and Italian architects even strongly agrees with this statement (41 per cent and 47 percent respectively).

The only country where less than 60 per cent of architects share this notion is Spain - but still with 55 per cent of architects agreeing and only one out of ten architects explicitly disagreeing, while many Spanish architects remained undecided. So, the results also illustrate that the issue of energy efficiency is still not equally present in architects' minds everywhere: Unlike the other four countries, a large share of architects in the United Kingdom (22 per cent) and Spain (26 per cent) chose to give no answer to the topic.
