High-performance hybrid machines at Plast Avrasya 2009

Allrounder H machines impress with high production capacity and short cycle times / Advantage: sector-specific equipment

Arburg will be presenting state-of-the-art injection moulding technology with the high-performance Allrounder H (Hidrive) at the 19th Plast Avrasya, taking place from 19 to 22 November 2009 in Istanbul. At exhibition stand no. 218 in hall 2, trade visitors will be able to see for themselves the potential of the new Allrounder H with an automation solution from the automotive sector as well as a high-speed thin-walled application from the packaging sector.

This philosophy is tangibly and impressively demonstrated at Plast Avrasya with an automation solution from the automotive sector and a high-speed thin-walled application from the packaging sector."

Automotive and packaging application

Arburg will be demonstrating a sample application for the new Hidrive series in the automotive sector with the production of a plug insert. The high-precision technical components weighing 2.5 grams are produced in a cycle time of 14 seconds in an automation process based around an Allrounder 370 H with a clamping force of 600 kN and a size 290 injection unit. Part removal and sprue separation are performed by a vertically operating Multilift V Select robotic system, which sets down the moulded parts separately by cavity.

The Selogica control system, in which the robotic system is fully integrated, ensures a smooth and fast production process and manages all the sequences centrally. The teach-in function implemented in the control system also facilitates easy programming and operation.

The high productivity and speed of the Hidrive machines is demonstrated using the example of a thin-walled high-speed application. Production is performed on an Allrounder 570 H with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and size 800 injection unit producing a thin-walled egg box for four eggs in a cycle time of just 1.9 seconds.

Hidrive stands for maximum productivity, short cycles and energy efficiency

The hybrid machines take the best from Arburg's modular system to create a high-performance machine concept. They combine the servo-electric clamping unit of the Allrounder A (Alldrive) and the hydraulic injection unit of the Allrounder S with hydraulic accumulator technology and servo-electric dosage to form a powerful machine series for optimised cycle times. The Hidrive machines are characterised by maximum production performance and reduced energy consumption at a highly attractive price/performance ratio. They therefore lend themselves perfectly to the production of components for demanding industries.

In autumn 2009, their individual adaptability will once again be extended significantly with additional equipment options. As a result, the Hidrive series will then feature the entire spectrum of Arburg modularity. For example, three injection unit sizes with different screw diameters and alternative screw geometries will then be available for each machine size, including high-performance and hybrid versions. This enables perfect, energy-efficient adaptation to the relevant application with regard to injection.

Energy optimisation via servo-electric drives

All Allrounder Hidrive machines bear the Arburg "e²" energy-efficiency label. This is because they are equipped with a servo-electric direct drive for an energy-intensive dosage process as well as for the toggle-type clamping unit. The braking energy of the servo motors is recovered and fed back into the mains, optimising the machines' energy consumption. Furthermore, charging of the hydraulic accumulator is dynamically regulated, so that the pressure level is automatically adapted in line with the momentary demand. In this way, the charge pressure of the hydraulic accumulator is adapted to the relevant process. Energy optimisations of up to 40 percent can be achieved, because in addition to the servo-electric drives and braking energy recovery, the hydraulic accumulator technology operates with the minimum amount of installed pump capacity and motors of efficiency class EFF1.
