First No-Harm Additive for Bio Heating Oil

(PresseBox) (Berlin, ) For the first time an oxidation stabilizer could pass the no-harm test for bio heating oil successfully. A new no-harm list for bio heating oil is now available at Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM).

For many years, AGQM offers a no-harm test for oxidation stabilizers for the additivation of biodiesel as fuel component. As there are different requirements for bio heating oil, a new no-harm test for the safe additivation of bio heating oil was developed. The oxidation stabilizer IONOL BH 1000 from Oxiris Chemicals S.A. passed this new no-harm test successfully. In the previous year two additives failed, so IONOL BH 1000 is the first one to be added to the new no-harm list for bio heating oil additives available on AGQM’s homepage www.agqm‑

In contrast to the fuel additive test, the examinations of the no-harm test for bio heating oil additives are performed with a B20 fuel instead of a B10 fuel. A confirmation of the additive being ash-free is necessary and additionally, the additized FAME (fatty acid methyl ester) is checked for selected parameters of EN 14214. Neither an engine test nor a check of compatibility with engine oil are part of this test. But the well-known and important relative efficiency test is included. The test examines how efficient an additive is in comparison to the same concentration of BHT (butylhydroxytoluene).
