These days, ventilation is a top priority as far as window renovation is concerned. The better the insulation of the building shell, the more important sufficient ventilation becomes. Otherwise, the building could – in a worst case scenario – suffer from mold in addition to poor air quality. According to a study by the Humboldt University of Berlin, 41 percent of the German population has to contend with mold at home. GENEO INOVENT by REHAU is a smart solution to this problem. A ventilation system which is fully integrated into the window, GENEO INOVENT offers many benefits with regard to renovation and special features to make it truly distinctive.
Efficient ventilation with heat recovery
The high stability of the GENEO window profile system and the lack of a need for steel reinforcement in the profile enable the ventilation system to be directly integrated into the window frame. This makes the system especially suitable as part of renovation work – all that needs to be done is to remove the old window and install the new one with the ventilation system. Additional chiseling or drilling into the masonry is not necessary.
GENEO INOVENT consists of two sets of two fans that are integrated laterally into the window frame. This makes the ventilation system virtually invisible and does not affect the appearance or size of the window. One fan in the set sucks in the waste indoor air and discharges it outside, while the other sucks in fresh air from outside and pumps it into the residence. An integrated heat exchanger facilitates heat recovery of up to 71 percent, thereby enabling energy consumption to be reduced. If there is not enough power to ensure ventilation, only one fan set can be switched on as an alternative.
Four power levels allow for the air volume flow amount to be manually set. The maximum air exchange of 30 cubic meters per hour per window guarantees a high level of living quality. A user interface integrated into the window allows the user to configure the level of ventilation according to their requirements (e.g. in the bedroom) and read the operational status of the GENEO INOVENT system.
First major project in Munich
GENEO INOVENT has already been put into operation in several significant properties. For example, the concept of the new ventilation system impressed the planners of a major project in Munich. This project involved the installation of 850 ventilation windows in over 170 homes built by real estate developer Baugenossenschaft München-West des Eisenbahnpersonals eG. The system provides fresh air when the windows are closed, 24 hours a day.
