MSC Technologies, a company of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), provides first samples of three new AU Optronics (AUO) displays, G150XTK01.0, G150XTK01.1 and G150XTK01.2 with integrated PCAP touch screen. The 15-inch (38.1cm) displays with on-cell touch have outline dimensions of 326.5mm (horizontal) x 253.5mm (vertical) and a depth of only 10mm (max.). Touch screens on a display normally contribute significantly to the thickness of the overall module. Even if a special cover glass is not required, panels with a touch screen are generally 3 to 5mm thicker.
The 15-inch (38.1cm) displays conform to the Panel Standardization Working Group (PSWG) standards, are relatively light in weight and can be easily integrated into a system. For all three models, the typical brightness value is 390 cd/m² and a contrast ratio 700:1. The horizontal viewing angle is specified at 80 degrees (left/right) and the vertical viewing angle is specified at 70 degrees/80 degrees (upper/lower), at a contrast ratio of 10:1. The AUO displays exhibit a good reflection behavior.
Compared to many conventional solutions, the G150XTK01.x displays emit less interfering radiation and are more insensitive to radiation. The USB touch controller from ILITEK is shielded and located on the display electronics. It allows a minimum distance between two points of 22mm. The accuracy and linearity in the center is +/- 1.5mm. The displays are suitable for use with cover glasses of 1.8mm or 3mm thickness with an airgap of 1mm between display and glass.
While model .0 can be controlled via an LVDS interface, models .1 and .2 are equipped with an embedded DisplayPort (eDP) interface. Operating and storage temperature ranges for models .0 and .1 are -30°C to +85°C, and for model .2 are -20°C to +70°C. Therefore, the displays are also suited for use in outdoor applications. The displays are tested according to EN61000-4-2, ESD class B. A list of drivers for different operating systems will gladly be provided.
