Imperva Expands File Protection with Broad Data Loss Prevention Integrations
RSA, Websense, McAfee and Code Green Networks now partner and integrate with Imperva SecureSphere
"File security continues to be a soft spot for many organizations," said Amichai Shulman, CTO, Imperva. "The integration of SecureSphere File Activity Monitoring with data loss prevention enhances data security programs with stronger controls to monitor and prevent abuse."
SecureSphere works with DLP and other content discovery solutions to import the location of sensitive files and the type of sensitive data that has been discovered. That information is then leveraged to focus SecureSphere analytical capabilities on the most important data. Data classification information from these solutions is also used in SecureSphere policies to control access and generate alerts when sensitive data is accessed. The combination of file activity monitoring with DLP ensures:
- Data owners can be identified for sensitive data
- An audit trail exists of who has accessed sensitive data
- The sensitive data is protected by real-time policies
- Access to the sensitive data is based on a business need to know.
"FAM and DLP are highly complementary and work extremely well together," explained Rich Mogull, Securosis Analyst and CEO. "DLP solutions can dig into files and understand the content. FAM solutions can leverage that understanding to cost-effectively meet compliance requirements, reduce file management costs, and reduce the risk of data breaches."
"Integration with Imperva's File Activity Monitoring will help our DLP customers gain more context about the ownership and usage of unstructured data" noted Steve Preston, vice president for product marketing at RSA. "Organizations can now take a more holistic approach towards managing information risk."
"Websense provides deep, accurate data loss prevention insight to partners, like Imperva, so companies can easily see if sensitive data is being stolen or misused," said Patrick Murray, Websense senior director of product management. "Websense patented PreciseID(TM) natural language processing greatly increases identification accuracy, which reduces false positives and the IT resources required to sift through them. With Imperva, we have empowered IT teams to quickly see and focus on their most prized data."
"McAfee DLP customers can now use SecureSphere File Activity Monitoring to audit and protect their file data. File activity monitoring identifies key stakeholders who can help build DLP remediation policies, and provides a forensic audit trail of who is accessing data, and how," noted Ed Barry, vice president of the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance. "Alliance enables McAfee customers to confidently deploy heterogeneous solutions, and we are excited about the enhanced capabilities that our joint customers will experience."
"Integration with Imperva's File Activity Monitoring will help our customers lock down data contained in sensitive files," noted Chris Leffel, director product management at Code Green Networks. "Market acceptance for the joint offering has already proven strong, validating our approach."
