The organizers expect several hundred participants from around the world for the event. This marks the sixth Global Gathering for the organization and represents the strong and growing interest in Scrum throughout the world.
IBM has embarked on the event in its agile journey that is reshaping the company in fundamental ways to fuel a culture of collaboration that focuses on our customers key needs. IBM is in a unique position to deliver globally distributed agile projects at scale; allowing the rapid creation of specialized client solutions that put clients at the heart of development. IBM brings its own experiences to agile engagements: it is on its own agile journey, understands the challenges and how to overcome them.
"Within IBM, the Agile approach is fostering high staff engagement by replacing functional silos with cross-functional teams that emphasise communication and collaboration over documentation and meetings. Agile has become a frame of mind for how IBMers work and respond to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of us in our client engagements. IBM’s global approach to agility is a recognition of its desire to continuously innovate and grow and be essential to clients.", said Aidan de Gruchy, Senior Consultant and Agile Expert, IBM Global Business Services.
Global Gatherings of the Scrum Alliance are held at least twice per year, once in the United States in the spring and again in Europe or Asia in the fall. The location of the Global Gatherings changes each year to allow as many people as possible the chance to be part of one of these inspiring events.
The purpose of Global Gatherings is to offer practitioners worldwide the opportunity to come together to share their passion for and knowledge of Scrum and Agile practices. Attendees will hear presentations from experts in the field who will inspire them with stories of success, current implementation best practices, and creative applications of the Scrum framework. Participants also get the chance to meet people from around the world who share a drive to deliver better business results. Attendees share experiences, gain new insights, and return home to their work teams energized and ready to reach the next level. The Global Gathering in Munich is already sold out in terms of available seats for regular participants.
