Wide-ranging sales and support agreement
Gleichmann Electronics is appointed as the European representative of NEC's Optical Transceivers and MR(Magneto-Resistive)Sensors
"We chose Gleichmann Electronics as our reliable partner in European market based on its outstanding sales activities and extensive engineering expertise on our products, something unusual for a distribution partner. We believe, with this new partnership, combining the strengths of both companies, we can further increase businesses in European market," says Tomokazu Ito, General Manager Fiber Optic Devices Division NEC, about the cooperation between the two companies, which will become even closer in the future.
Klaus Hagenacker, Managing Director Gleichmann Electronics, regards the transfer of representation as a great sign of trust on the part of NEC. "We are fully aware of the responsibility that we are assuming as the representative of NEC FODD in Europe." However we will gladly accept this challenge because this agreement offers us the opportunity to further expand our position as one of the leading European design-in distributors and system integrators to include the technically-demanding products of NEC FODD."
A focal point of NEC FODD is the development and production of optical transceivers for such markets as access systems, backbone systems, client interface, and data center. With more than 30 years' experience, NEC is among the pioneers and technology leaders in these markets and offering state-of-the-art products like Digital Coherent transceivers and Low Power Compact-SFP transceivers.
Another NEC FODD product sector that is growing quickly and showing great promise is magneto-resistive sensors. Thanks to their reliability and vibration resistance, the bounce-free switching MR sensors, which were originally designed for cellular phones and Laptop PCs, are well suited as a substitute for reed relays. In industrial applications such as drive technology, MR sensors are increasingly being used as an alternative to the widespread Hall sensors or as position switch for the connection to pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders.
MR sensors are also a cost-effective yet highly-precise solution for speed and flow measurements, for example in gas/water Smart Meters. "Thanks to the leading technological position that NEC FODD occupies with regard to MR sensors, we see enormous growth potential in these markets in future years, especially in Europe," says Klaus Hagenacker with confidence.
Über Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH
Founded in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, which is part of the same group of companies with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, is one of the leading pan-European distributors of electronic assemblies and components. With the early focus on a small number of support-intensive product areas such as displays, optoelectronics and customized rechargeable battery packs, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics was able to build up unique system know-how over a number of years in the sectors previously mentioned. This in-depth technical know-how, which is unusual for a distributor, enables Gleichmann & Co. Electronics as Display Solution Center to support customers on an individual basis according to needs at each stage of the customer's application development. This support ranges from the traditional product advice and extensive design-in support up to taking over the entire product development.
