"Iowa State is excited by the opportunities that Aleph will provide for new and improved user services, built on a tighter integration of our library management system and our e?Library Web site," commented Olivia Madison, dean of Iowa State University Library, following the library's decision to replace its SirsiDynix Horizon system with Aleph. "Also running the Ex Libris SFX®, MetaLib®, and Primo® solutions, Iowa State University Library has been a strong proponent and early adopter of cutting-edge discovery and delivery tools that are revolutionizing the ways in which users find and access information resources," she added. "As a member of the charter group that first implemented the Primo discovery and delivery platform, we are pleased to be embarking on another long-term partnership with Ex Libris."
The National Library of Romania purchased Aleph along with the SFX OpenURL link resolver, MetaLib gateway and metasearch portal, and DigiTool® digital asset management system, all from Ex Libris. Elena Tîrziman, general director of the library, explained: "We were very focused on finding a solution to manage our print, electronic, and digital collections. The fact that all Ex Libris solutions are completely multilingual and enable a library to manage and provide access to diverse and complex collections weighed heavily in our decision. Throughout the selection process, we found the Ex Libris distributor in Hungary, Ex-Lh Ltd., to be extremely knowledgeable and responsive."
After conducting a thorough investigation of available products, the Reformed Episcopal Seminary replaced its legacy Bib-Base system with the Ex Libris Voyager ILS. The Rev. Dr. Jonathan Riches, librarian at the Seminary, noted: "One of our principal requirements was a flexible, out-of-the box solution, which Voyager met easily. The clarity and accessibility of the OPAC were also an important consideration for us. Voyager's solid, long-standing reputation and the breadth of its customer base were major factors in our decision process."
Margarita García Segura, director of the Information and Documentation Department of the National University of Costa Rica, explained that her organization selected ALEPH for its flexibility in handling the large collections housed in 17 networked libraries across the University. "The experience of Ex Libris and Aleph in Central and South America, and the system's presence in the best libraries of the world, offer a guarantee of continuous development, permanence in times of constant challenges and vertiginous technological changes, as well as the capacity to meet the requirements of our users with new and trusted services," she added.
Nancy Dushkin, VP marketing at Ex Libris, commented: "We are pleased to welcome these international institutions to our ILS customer base. The recent major releases of Voyager version 7 and Aleph version 20 have been very well received by our customer community, with which we collaborated extensively on the new enhancements and features that were included in each of these product versions. The planning process for the next major release of Aleph and Voyager has already begun."
