The technical reliability of a wind turbine prototype is of great importance, and testing a nacelle is a long and cost intensive process. From April 2015 Germany's first test rig in Bremerhaven - the Dynamic Nacelle Testing Laboratory (DyNaLab) of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) - is testing, evaluating and optimizing wind turbine nacelles with a capacity of up to 8 megawatts. DyNaLab accelerates the innovation as well as development time for prototypes considerably.
