- Customers in the replacement business stand to benefit from original equipment expertise
- Local production in Turkey enables high availability
“After around eight to twelve years of use, the parts in air spring systems will start to need replacing,” notes Olaf Philipp, head of ContiTech Railway Engineering. “Many of the rail vehicles in Turkey are reaching this point now. As an original equipment partner, we know the requirements of operators and supply them with suitable air springs for the relevant application.” As part of that process, the company builds on its experience and expertise in original equipment and applies it to the replacement market. For more than 50 years now, ContiTech has been developing and manufacturing air spring systems that are used not only on rail vehicles, but also on commercial vehicles and in industrial applications. The air springs used in the replacement business meet the same high quality standards as those in the original equipment sector.
Development partner and innovation driver
ContiTech is making an impression on the growing Turkish market with its local presence as well. For more than 15 years, ContiTech has been producing air spring systems at its own plant in Bursa, Turkey. The plant is a base from which ContiTech can supply international vehicle manufacturers, increasing numbers of which have taken up residence in Turkey in recent years and now stand to benefit from the high availability on offer.
ContiTech air spring systems and rubber-metal parts increase comfort and safety on trams, metro trains, and high-speed trains. They make eco-friendly rail travel even more attractive to passengers, and help reduce noise pollution in cities and densely populated areas. As a driver of innovation and a one-stop supplier of primary and secondary suspension systems, ContiTech is driving forward development in this field.
