Benecke-Kaliko Merges Lightweight Construction and Exclusive Interior Design

International Suppliers Fair (IZB): TEPEO® and TEPEO 2® compact foils and foam laminates are halogenfree and completely recyclable

(PresseBox) (Hanover/Wolfsburg, ) Limited resources, environmental pollution and rising energy prices: Reducing fuel consumption, and thus emissions as well, is gaining in importance in the automotive industry. Lightweight design is a key technology on the road to cost-efficient, eco-friendly and climate-neutral cars. TEPEO® und TEPEO 2® compact foils and foam laminates from Benecke-Kaliko (on view at booth 302 in hall 6) combine eco-friendly lightweight construction and exclusive interior design. These polyolefin-based surface materials have a lower density than PVC materials. This makes them up to 50 percent lighter. "They are halogen-free, fully recyclable, attractive in appearance and pleasant to the touch. The material enables complex component geometries of a kind previously realizable only with slush skins," says Volker Philipp, who oversees the company's business with Volkswagen.

With Yorn® Light, a PVC/PO laminate, Benecke-Kaliko also offers weight-reduced PVC foils. Rigorous use of lighterweight foils can reduce the weight of a vehicle by as much as 2 kg without in any way compromising quality and feel to the touch. This weight reduction cuts fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
