Acrosoma nv from Belgium has successfully developed a cost effective and continuous production technology to produce tri-dimensional stitched sandwich panels that have less weight, high strength and minimal thermal expansion. On top of that, Acrosoma engineering has also performed in-depth theoretical and applied research to explore the mechanical and thermal behaviour of tri-dimensional sandwich panels.
Thanks to Finite Element Modelling, extensive testing and the implementation of Design of Experiments, the production process is continuously being refined. The tri-dimensional Acrosoma Panel is now being used successfully in Aircraft production equipment and tooling, in wind turbine rotor blades, in truck trailers and in other structural applications. These applications provide substantial data, which has been subsequently used in the further development of this exciting new technology.
A Horizontal Transport Tool made completely out of composite Acrosoma Panels, is now transporting and positioning the covers of the wing of the AIRBUS A350 in the Airbus production hall in Stade and Illescas. Acrosoma composite tools will be used more and more in the future.
Acrosoma will start up a daughter company in Stade, which will be located in the building of CTC. One of the goals is to set up a cooperation between Acrosoma and CTC for the development of structural aircraft parts.
