After successful assembling and testing the first wind main gearbox made by Brevini Wind has left the facility in Bad Homburg, Germany. Only one year ago, Brevini Wind and WinWinD had signed the contract for development and manufacturing of the main gearboxes for WinWinD's three-megawatt new wind turbines. Brevini Wind Germany has developed the main gear box in close cooperation with the customer. The new design of the 3 MW gearbox brings remarkable weight reductions and performance improvements.
After having successfully terminated overload testing of the prototypes at Brevini Wind as well as field tests at WinWinD, later this year the series production will begin in the German plant.
"The delivery of this first 3 MW main gearbox marks a real milestone for us and shows the work done by Brevini Wind in the last two years. Our engineering and manufacturing team in both our plants in Germany and in USA have now reached an excellent level of competence which we will bring into the new projects", says Jacopo Tozzi, President of Brevini Wind.
Brevini Wind operations have significant competitive advantages in two locations, excellent design capabilities, two identical test benches of 6.4 MW, one in Brevini Wind USA and one in Germany, in house heat treatment and most updated manufacturing equipment.
