The latest innovation to come from hybris Labs is the Smart Wine Shelf. An Internet of Things (IoT) application, the tool helps customers, confronted with a variety of choices too big for them to handle, to find those bottles of wine which best match their taste. With the assistance of a mobile application called "Wine Wizard", the customer defines his taste in wine. Based on these preferences, those bottles that suit the customer are highlighted through LED's on the wine shelves. If the customer then selects one of these bottles, they will receive further information – displayed on a screen that is attached to the shelf - on that specific wine including the overall match with their specific taste and the criteria on which the recommendation is based. As any interaction with the Smart Wine Shelf produces data that can be used for market research, this method of using IoT to combine customer experience and analytics is an essential tool for retailers.
Other developments from hybris Labs include ‘Stream’, a concept that allows the television to be connected to online shopping for this to be synchronized with a mobile device or tablet. Another example is the integration of shopping with social media, via a mobile device and location-based services.
