“Good automotive HMI is more than just a functional interface”

(PresseBox) Berlin, 09.09.2010, The vehicle of the future is a digital one! Research has shown that HMI experts are challenged with creating an interface that is practical, engaging, and easy to use. From 20 – 22 September in Stuttgart, experts from the world’s leading companies will come together at IQPC’s International Automotive Cockpit HMI Conference to discuss the latest trends and developments in the field.

At the event delegates will have the chance to interact with global heads, product development directors, senior engineers and project managers of the HMI / MMI, Electric / Electronics, Cockpit Design and Infotainment departments of international OEM’s and airlines, seat manufacturers, design companies and suppliers.

The highlight on day one of the event will be a presentation from Dr Stefan Mattes, Researcher, Human Factors at Daimler AG, who will provide insight into the E-Drive display and control concept in the Mercedes F800 Style.

On 21 September, Dr Werner Hamberger, Head of Development Operating Concept at Audi AG, will speak about new technologies in control concepts including Black Panel technology. Further, Dr Stefan Becker from Ford-Werke GmbH Germany, will take a look at intercultural differences in global HMI.

The interactive workshop day on 22 September will give delegates the opportunity to take part in in-depth discussions on cross industry approaches, HMI-configuration and system construction with Future Web, and more.

Richard Robinson, Director Automotive Multimedia Communications Service at Strategy Analytics in the UK, gives one example of the increasing significance of HMI: “Technology such as TTS and voice recognition were only available in 21% of vehicles globally in 2009. By 2017 these will be available in 70% of vehicles.” This and further current issues will be the focus of the three-day event in Stuttgart.
