SGS Officially Approved to Execute Building Certification and Inspection Services in Its Tokyo Office
From now on, SGS can meet the high demand for construction industry services in Tokyo and the region.
With the aim of improving building quality and guaranteeing a minimum acceptable level of safety for construction projects, most governments set up building codes. These requirements refer, among other things, to structural safety, fire protection, energy saving or accessibility for people with limited mobility. These building codes vary considerably among nations. In order to meet the governmental requirements, owners seek authorized designated bodies which can conduct supervision and inspection during construction work, provide technical assistance at each stage of the project and ensure compliance with established standards and requirements.
Since October 30, 2009, SGS has been one of the designated bodies in Japan able to conduct building certification and building inspection services according to the Building Standard Law (BSL) of Japan from its office in Yokohama. SGS is authorized to perform the verification of building plans as well as interim inspections and completion inspection services throughout the whole country. Moreover, SGS issues the final building certificate of confirmation, which is a verification of design conformance.
The execution of Building Certification and Building Inspection Services by SGS Japan (Only available in Japanese) was limited to its office in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, until July 2010.
In order to meet the demand of industrial clients from the construction industry in Tokyo and the region and to reach more clients, SGS applied to execute Building Certification and Inspection Services from its recently opened Tokyo office.
