Secusmart is the Most Innovative Enterprise of the Year
The young high-tech company Secusmart was presented by Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf Enterprise 2011 award

The high-tech enterprise Secusmart was honoured on Thursday, June 9th, with the entrepreneur award from the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf in the category of innovation for its trend-setting security solution. Founded in 2007, Secusmart now has 25 employees. On the occasion of this festive award, Mayor and jury chairman Dirk Elbers praised the young enterprise: "Düsseldorf is Germany's number one location for mobile communication. Innovation and growth are found side-by-side here as they are with the winner of the entrepreneur price for innovation. Secusmart is a winner who is an innovative and rapidly growing start-up in the telecommunication branch, a perfect fit to the mobile capital of Düsseldorf."
Secusmart scored big with innovative, secure communication solutions as well as with good figures: "Secusmart was able to win over the jury regarding profits - with a clear double-digit return on sales," stated Karin-Brigitte Göbel, Stadtsparkasse executive board member, at the award ceremony which took place at the Stadtsparkasse headquarters on Berliner Allee. "Secusmart has earned this Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf 2011 innovation award because it quickly established itself with new product solutions in this difficult telephone market.
"Our security technologies make communication more secure and easy to use," explained Secusmart's Managing Director Dr. Hans-Christoph Quelle after the ceremony. "We never doubted for a second that there was only one location, the location, for Secusmart: the mobile capital of Düsseldorf."
Secusmart was the first company worldwide to develop a hardware-based security solution on a micro SD card for modern smartphones. The Düsseldorf company is well-known far beyond the city limits: The Federal Government and all federal authorities use Secusmart's encryption solution to place phone calls and to send text messages - and thus the so-called "Merkel-Handy" was born.
The federal authorities will soon also be using Secusmart solutions for encrypted landline telephone calls: SecuGATE LI1 and SecuGate LI30 - two solutions for landline encryption - are scheduled for delivery to the federal authorities later this year.
The SecuVOICE and SecuSMS solutions from Secusmart are used by federal authorities, some federal states as well as the private industry.
The Netherlands have recently approved SecuVOICE for the "Departementaal Vertrouwelijk" security level. This corresponds to the German VS-NfD (Classified - for official use only) security level.
This is the seventh time that Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf has awarded this entrepreneur prize. The jury, headed by Mayor Dirk Elbers, also included Dr. Thomas Köster (HWK Düsseldorf), Dr. Udo Siepmann (IHK Düsseldorf), Peter Fröhlich (Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf executive board chairman) and Karin-Brigitte Göbel (Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf executive board member), among others.
