Ahead of CTIA next week, Ovum analysts give their view as to what to expect at the show

"We're not expecting CTIA to be full of groundbreaking or surprising announcements - rather, we expect to see incremental moves from operators, device vendors and infrastructure vendors at the show, subtly moving forward the conversation on a number of fronts. This event will also be a test of CTIA's ability to remain relevant in the shadow of CES and Mobile World Congress, which have stolen much of the limelight it used to enjoy, and which prompted its move from March to May this year.
"We expect operators to provide guidance on how they will move beyond deploying LTE to making money from their new networks, now that running an LTE network is becoming table stakes in the North American market. Struggling device vendors will have to prove that they have the right strategies to turn their performance around, starting with the US market. Enterprise vendors and service providers will continue to tackle the challenge of employees using their own devices for work, and the opportunities associated with M2M. And infrastructure vendors will likely flesh out broad announcements made at Mobile World Congress in February with North American specifics, while also trying to gauge the market to see if Q1 financial results will be the exception or the rule for 2012."
