Imtech: 30 million euro order for technology on board four German naval frigates
Imtech (Imtech Marine Group, the German business unit Imtech Schiffbau-/Dockbautechnik) will supply the four F125 frigates with high-tech and energy-saving heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) that can be adjusted in each individual space. Imtech is responsible for the engineering, implementation and commissioning of the systems. The contract originated from the Arge F125, which consists of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and the Lürssen Werft. The four frigates will be operational by 2017. The requirements to be met by these frigates reflect the modified deployment profile of the German Navy, which is focusing increasingly on long-term international peace missions. The technology that Imtech will supply on the frigates has been specially designed with a view to long-term and intensive use. It also meets the highest requirements and can be deployed under the most extreme (climatic) conditions.
Strong position in the naval market
Imtech was also responsible for part of the technology on board the German Navy's F124 frigates, the precursor of the F125. Imtech recently received orders for expansion of the fleets of the Dutch, Moroccan, Australian and Turkish navies. Imtech is also involved in long-term naval programmes in Poland, Greece, Indonesia and Oman. In addition, it has been commissioned by the Royal Navy in the UK to work on the engineering for the automation, electrical engineering and air and climate technology for two new aircraft carriers.
