Arburg at the Elmia Polymer 2012 in Jönköping
Focus on electric Allrounders / Micro-injection moulding and automation solutions / Focus on production efficiency
At the Elmia Polymer, the Edrive and Alldrive series will offer impressive proof of the broad range of electric machines from Arburg. While the Allrounder E series is designed for producing standard moulded parts, the Allrounder A series covers high-end applications.
Edrive: electric machines for a wide range of applications
The Allrounder E machines cover a range of clamping forces from 600 to 2,000 kN. The Edrive machines are particularly suitable for the efficient production of standard items, such as technical moulded parts and thus represent an energy-efficient electric alternative to basic hydraulic machines.
An electric Allrounder 470 E with a clamping force of 1,000 kN and a size 400 injection unit will be presented at the Elmia Polymer. The exhibit operates with a 24-cavity mould from Klio-Eterna Schreibgeräte and produces 1.15 g ballpoint pen clips made from ABS in a cycle time of 22 seconds. The exhibit will feature an electric Integralpicker V for removing the sprue. The picker enters the mould vertically from above and is fully integrated in the Selogica control system. This means that the machine and picker are programmed together and integrated into a single cycle sequence. The machine and picker data is also stored in a shared data record. This reduces set-up times for the entire system. The three servo-electric movement axes also ensure rapid removal and therefore shorter cycle times.
Together with the energy-efficient machine technology, this exhibit is a good example of the efficient production of standard products.
Arburg micro-injection module: big on small components
A fully-automated injection moulding solution will be presented for the high-precision, cost-effective production of micro-injection moulded parts. The centrepiece is an electric Allrounder 270 A with a clamping force of 350 kN which produces two micro clamping frames in a cycle time of 15 seconds. Subsequently, the micro parts weighing 3.6 mg will be removed via a horizontally-operating Multilift H robotic system featuring a special gripper system and then set down according to cavity. Due to the intricate structure and small size of the parts, removal is performed individually via vacuum. The electric Allrounder integrated in the production cell is equipped with the Arburg micro-injection module. This combines an 8-mm injection screw with a second screw for melting the material and permits the injection of minute shot weights with precise control of the injection movements. The first-in-first-out principle, the processing of standard granulates and the short dwell times are important advantages of the micro-injection module, which can be quickly changed and used on various machines due to its enclosed construction. This also means that the application range of the machine is not restricted to micro-injection moulding.
Über ARBURG GmbH + Co KG
Arburg, a German machine construction company, is one of the leading global manufacturers of injection moulding machines for plastics processing with clamping forces between 125 kN and 5,000 kN. Fields of application include the production of plastic parts for motor vehicles, communications and consumer electronics, medical technology, domestic appliances and packaging. The product range is completed by robotic systems, complex projects and other peripherals. Arburg's operations are coordinated by an integrated management system and are DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001 certified. Arburg is represented by its own organisations at 32 locations in 24 countries and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. However, production takes place exclusively in the parent factory in Lossburg (Germany) - with the mark of quality "made by Arburg - made in Germany". From a total of around 2,150 Arburg employees, 1,800 work in Germany. A further 350 employees work in Arburg's organisations around the world.
